Not to be outdone on the outrage scale by her South Florida colleague, Bob Wexler, Orange County, California's Sanchez, the very last person in the House of Representatives that you would expect to be invited to a gathering of Mensa, concluded the Joint House hearing with General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker.

Of all the things she could focus on, she asked a question about the facts on the ground versus an ABC News/BBC poll that better supports the Democrats' view that there is nothing good to be found in Iraq as long as George Bush has anything to do with it.

Note that after she finally gets around to her question, she directs the poll question to Ambassador Crocker, who cites the statistics he knows.  Sanchez interrupts and drops the insinuation that General Petraeus is manipulating the numbers in Iraq, essentially lying in his report, he numbers in his report, saying "and General Petraues will know what I mean by that."

Later in her presentation, dripping with condescension, she slags the entire Iraqi population as saying we are the only good thing happening in their economy.

She is an idiot.  And it is pretty well known even in the House of Representatives that she is an idiot.  And idiots being able to prosper and rise to the level of being able to ask questions of four-star generals in time of war is one of the things that is truly remarkable about this country.  But no one likes a condescending idiot.  It may be fair to say that when compared to the 160,000 men and women under General Petraeus' command, Congresswoman Sanchez may rank in the 2nd percentile in intelligence.

But make no mistake, Sanchez, like Bob Wexler, like MoveOn.org, like the Code Pink protestors, like the Democrats in the Senate who were silent today when they should have been renouncing the New York Times ad today, does not hold the military in anything but contempt.

Sanchez
Who on God's Earth would vote for this woman, and if she thinks the BBC poll is gospel, why is she not calling for the BBC to run the war? This absolutely amazes me.

SOrry, it's late and I'm surrounded by idiots.

Sanchez
Considering the BBC has a much better record for reporting the truth and factual information than our own MSM, I can understand Representative Sanchez giving so much weight to the BBC poll.

The BBC could no doubt do a worse job running this occupation (it no longer meets the definition of a war since President Bush declared Mission Accomplished two years ago), than the people currently in charge. No we are not surrounded by idiots, but a rather cagey group who has figured out how to play fundamentalist Christians fo their own self interests.

If I could vote for Ms. Sanchez I would, and as to inferring Petraeus is a liar, well 51% of Americans already don't believe him, so she can't be that far off-base.

Sanchez Is a LIAR
I knew Loretta Sanchez was a liar from the minute she ran for Anaheim city council and finished 12th. During the campaign, she met CA Democrat Party chair, Bill Press, at one of Press' radio shows held in the field at a tire shop in Anaheim. Sanchez dropped using her non-hispanic husband's name, and started playing the race card in all her elections.

You have to remember this is the "boob" who wanted to hold a Democrat fundraiser in the hot pool at the Playboy Mansion during the Democrat National Convention held in LA at the time.

Anaheim regularly disgraces itself for voting for this boob and her idiot sister.

Willful Misunderstanding
Is that what the complaint is. I'm listening to her right now, and the logic is clear. Iraqis don't think things are good, what Iraqis think is important according to our own counter insurgency doctrines (I know how people seem to think narcissism equates to patriotism, but let's think a little beyond ourselves here), and she is asking for then to explain the disconnect.

In other words, if "hearts and minds" are the key and you have data showing you Iraqis are not on board with us, what do you call progress?

Seems like the criticism of Sanchez is primarily based on misunderstanding (clearly willfully) of what she is saying. That is intellectually lazy and plainly dishonest.

She also is pointing out that this poll is hard data on what Iraqis think. Not what progress is physically made or anything like that as critics are saying. The question then is how do the general and ambassador jive their anecdotal accounts with this hard data on the common Iraqi's opinion.

You know, if we actually had honest debates in this country and actually argued what each side is really saying on it's content and merit instead of willfully twisting and misunderstanding our opposition into the most absurd charactures, we might actually be better off for it.

And one more thing, I just want to point out on a similar note, no one is holding the military in any contempt. The civilian leaders set the policy, and this is what this is about. Just because cowards hide behind the military when critism is pointed their way doesn't make the critism an attack on the military.

When an idiot is firing a gun off randomly and dangerously and you say he should stop, it's not contempt for the gun you have, it's contempt for the idiot, Duane.
