John McCain spent some time pandering in Michigan today at a town hall meeting. Among his opening remarks was this little gem about Michigan's fight to keep their water resources.
I'm from AZ but I'm not a McCain supporter (except as a last resort - before Ron Paul or Hillary))
Yes, the "Colorado River" starts in Colorado but it then flows through Utah and then into Arizona (where it created the Grand Canyon) and it marks the Arizona's western border with Nevada and California. Part of the water that makes up the Colorado even comes from New Mexico and Wyoming.
By the time it gets to Arizona or California it has long since left Colorado.
The issue is that California is consuming more then they are allowed, by legal agrements, to the water that flows through the the river. By th time it reaches the Gulf of California and Mexio there is not much of a "river" left. More like a stream.

it's funny how we've got this big budget problem out here in CA and I didn't hear Hugh ask Dreier about their mutual buddy Arnold's position vis a vis global warming. How's that for a topic? |
